Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Facility Preservation Engineer to join our team at International Paper. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining and protecting our assets to ensure the reliability of our manufacturing process, the safety of our personnel, and the protection of the environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and complete facility design work requests
  • Comply with all safety standards and meet all legal requirements
  • Comply with all engineering standards
  • Provide technical support for engineering projects
  • Ensure control documents are current and available
  • Ensure that mechanical standards are current and available
  • Assist with ensuring regulatory applications and standards are satisfied
  • Ensure Mill performance meets IP Policies, procedures, specifications, and IP Global Manufacturing Systems standards and ABSA compliance
  • Provide oversight and collaboration with area maintenance and operations teams on various facility-related tasks
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 8-10 years' experience in industrial/maintenance field
  • Analysis, design, fabrication, installation, and repair of concrete, steel, aluminum, and wooden structures
  • Analyze, design, install, and repair underground gravity and pressure piping for process sewers, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water, effluent, natural gas, and other process piping
  • Knowledge of soil properties to allow the design, installation, and/or repair of roads, railroads, foundations, levees, retaining walls, and protective structures used in excavations
  • Knowledge of building systems to allow the writing of specifications to replace/repair building foundations, wall systems, frames, and roofs
  • Ability to use AutoCAD, finite element analysis, Provincial and National building and CSA S16 codes
  • Civil Engineering APEGA member or ability to obtain membership within a reasonable timeline
  • Experience using AutoCAD, SAP
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members in a multi-disciplined environment
  • Technical competence and strong attention to detail
