About the Role

At EXP, we're seeking a skilled Electrical Designer to join our Transportation electrical team in Markham. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed designs for transportation electrical systems using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Conduct detailed calculations, including voltage drop, illumination, conductor and conduit sizing, and grounding to ensure designs meet relevant engineering standards and applicable codes.
  • Perform complete lighting analysis using AGi32.
  • Design electrical layouts for cable raceways/underground conduits, lighting, panel schedules, and electrical grounding.
  • Coordinate with designers and engineers from other disciplines.
  • Perform site visits and contract administration.
  • Prepare contract documents, including specifications and cost estimates.
Requirements
  • An engineering degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 4 years of continuous experience in detailed design and design consultancy.
  • Knowledge of IES-RP-8 and Roadway lighting and Parking lot lighting.
  • Knowledge of OPSD, OPSS, TAC, and OTM manuals would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in transportation and transit projects is a must.
  • Experience with advanced lighting design tools (AGi32) would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and SPIDACalc.
  • Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards (CSA, OBC, NFPA, AREMA, and IEEE standards).
  • Experience with electrical design tools/software such as ETAP and SKM would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of electrical calculations (short circuit, load flow, protection coordination, arc flash, cable sizing, and lighting design) would be considered an asset.
