Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Elementary Teacher to join our team at the Okanagan Indian Band. As an Elementary Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of our students
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and productive classroom environment
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to ensure a collaborative approach to student learning
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education
Requirements
  • Valid BC teaching certificate issued by the Teacher Regulation Branch
  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent
  • Current First Aid/CPR certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Demonstrated ability to teach at an elementary level
  • Ability to teach split classes and team teach all classes within the school (grades K-7)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with First Nations students
  • Ability to communicate in an Indigenous language
