On-Call Elementary Teacher Opportunity


Located within the unceded territory of the syilx people, the Okanagan Indian Band is a community that values education and cultural immersion. We are seeking a qualified On-Call Elementary Teacher to join our team.

Job Summary

The On-Call Elementary Teacher will provide educational support to students in grades K-7, carrying out daily plans set by the regular classroom teacher. This may include planning and assessing students for extended leave, ensuring a culturally appropriate and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform the regular duties of an Elementary Classroom Teacher, including lesson and curriculum development and delivery
  • Support the student-centered learning program, integrating students with disabilities and challenges in a positive and respectful manner
  • Supervise students during classroom time, field trips, and after-school activities
  • Implement positive discipline and ensure a safe and secure learning environment
  • Collaborate with colleagues to complete student report cards and interim reports
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent
  • Valid BC teaching certificate issued by the Teacher Regulation Branch
  • Current First Aid/CPR certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Demonstrated ability to teach at an elementary level
