Verve Senior Living is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team at White Cliffe Terrace. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to our residents, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Accountability ObjectiveUnder the direction of the Health and Wellness Manager, the Registered Practical Nurse will perform nursing interventions with residents within their scope of practice. This includes utilizing the principal functions of nursing services in licensed care and adhering to the professional standards of practice of the applicable provincial College of Nurses.
Background/QualificationsApplicants must have a recognized nursing license (RPN licensing) and be in good standing. Written and verbal fluency in English is required. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, organizational skills, and proficient computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel and MDS/RAI). A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Practical Nurse is preferred, with some experience working within a union setting.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the Verve Quality Improvement (VQI) program.
- Distribute medications as per resident medication times.
- Perform treatments to all residents who require them within their area.
- Make assessments regarding changes in a resident's condition (i.e. falls, wounds, etc).
- Update resident care plans according to resident's changing needs.
- Complete all medication, treatment and incidental charting for residents on the nursing unit.
- Facilitate communication with all nursing staff regarding the care or concerns that have arisen during the shift.
- Initiate referrals to interdisciplinary team members (i.e. the Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physiotherapist, Dietician, etc).
- Work closely with and facilitate interactions between departments to ensure the best possible care and service is provided to residents.
- Utilize and allocate resources effectively by distributing, monitoring and maintaining adequate nursing supplies and equipment on the unit.
- Provide direction to front line nursing staff to ensure use of equipment and supplies is in accordance with policies and procedures, manufacturer's instructions, and health and safety regulations.
- Supervise and investigate staff actions or concerns to determine the proper resolution.
- Redirect and mentor front line healthcare staff when required.
- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems.
