About the Role:

The Environmental Technical Lead at Alamos Gold Inc. plays a critical role in ensuring the company's environmental monitoring programs are implemented and maintained in accordance with Federal and Provincial regulations, as well as corporate conditions and Indigenous Nation agreement conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead Environmental Monitoring Team: Provide technical support and training to staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  2. Schedule and Coordinate Monitoring Activities: Develop and implement schedules for monitoring and reporting duties to ensure compliance with permits and plans.
  3. Prepare Annual Sampling Plan: Contribute to the Environment team budget and prepare the annual sampling plan.
  4. Conduct Compliance Sampling and Monitoring: Conduct surface and groundwater, air quality, hydrology, and other biophysical parameter monitoring to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  5. Inspect and Track Waste Management: Inspect and track waste management and hazardous materials to ensure safe and responsible practices.
  6. Maintain Environmental Records: Maintain continuity in monitoring programs based on regulatory and commitment requirements, and ensure accurate and up-to-date environmental-related records and documentation.
  7. Ensure Instrument Maintenance: Ensure maintenance of environmental monitoring instruments and testing equipment.
  8. Manage Supplies and Inventory: Manage bottle orders and inventory stock of necessary reagents and field supplies.
  9. Prepare Compliance Reports: Assist in preparing compliance and regulatory reports (daily, weekly, monthly, and annual).
  10. Develop and Implement Environmental Management System: Assist in developing and implementing the Environmental Management System and related policies, standards, and procedures.
  11. Participate in Emergency Response Planning: Participate in implementing and maintaining the environmental emergency response plan.
  12. Ensure Safe Monitoring Locations: Ensure safe monitoring locations with proper signage are established and safe access is ensured.
  13. Coordinate Subcontractors: Assist and coordinate subcontractors with additional field environmental programs as required.
Requirements:
  1. Post-Secondary Degree: Post-secondary degree in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, Geoscience, or a related field preferred.
  2. Experience in Mining Environment: At least three years of experience in a mining environment.
  3. Supervisory Experience: Three years of supervisory experience.
  4. Understanding of Mining Processes: Understanding of mining and milling processes and their environmental impacts.
  5. Knowledge of Regulations: Knowledge of Municipal, Provincial (Manitoba), and Federal Acts and Regulations.
  6. Problem-Solving and Organizational Skills: Self-starter with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  7. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
  8. Ability to Work Independently: Ability to work independently and in team environments.
  9. Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in MS Office applications; proficiency in database programs and digital field recording is an asset.
  10. Ability to Work in Inclement Conditions: Ability to work outdoors in inclement conditions.
  11. Commitment to Health, Safety, and Environment: Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, the environment, and community.
  12. Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions: Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  13. Technical Documentation: Ability to understand and follow technical documentation accurately.
