About Lynn Lake Project
Alamos Gold's Lynn Lake project is a high-grade open pit gold deposit in Canada, located in northern Manitoba. The project consists of two primary sites, MacLellan and Gordon, which are east of the Town of Lynn Lake. With its low costs and excellent infrastructure, the project represents a significant opportunity for growth. We are seeking a Community Relations Manager to assist in the successful delivery of the Lynn Lake Project.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for engaging with First Nation community partners and other project stakeholders, including community members and government representatives. Key tasks include:
- Engaging with local First Nations and community members;
- Collaborating with local community representatives and council;
- Coordinating and leading community meetings and commitments;
- Ensuring Impact Benefit Agreement (IBA) commitments are implemented, tracked, and reported upon;
- Tracking and meeting Provincial and Federal licensing and permitting commitments regarding communities and First Nations;
- Working with Project technical leads and the Training Coordinator to ensure Project documentation and training initiatives are culturally aligned;
- Working with the Environmental Manager to deliver environmental studies, management plans, and permits that are aligned with our IBA(s) and Licensing conditions;
- Leading the Project's implementation of Alamos' Sustainability Performance Management Framework, specifically all community-related standards;
- Coordinating site visits with stakeholders as required;
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary degree in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. A proven track record of developing and sustaining relationships with Indigenous community leaders, members, and their advisors is essential. A minimum of 5 years (10 preferred) of relevant professional work experience, including experience working with First Nations in remote communities, is required. The candidate should be a self-starter who can anticipate needs and work independently. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked with remote northern indigenous communities. Outstanding decision-making skills, excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities, and the ability to communicate complex issues to people of diverse backgrounds are essential. The ability to work in diverse cultures with tact, savvy, and an understanding of differences in business environments is also required. Experience implementing mining industry IBAs is considered an asset. The ability and willingness to travel are essential. Strong proficiency in MS Office applications is also required.
