About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Portfolio Optimization Manager to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Global Transaction Banking team, you will play a critical role in identifying new revenue streams, sizing new initiatives, addressing current product gaps, and finding cross-product synergies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Focus: Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Profitability Optimization: Optimize the profitability of GBM's product portfolio by analyzing, designing, and recommending strategies in conjunction with product owners and cross-functional partners.
  • Revenue Growth: Work with the pricing and analytic teams to drive revenues and identify efficiencies.
  • Business Case Development: Assess the economic and financial feasibility of new product opportunities, ensuring a reasonable rate of return for services sold, provide sound competitive position, and making compelling recommendations.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Build data-driven, scenario-based models to evaluate business impact on strategic and business development initiatives and monitor key portfolio KPIs.
  • Business Planning: Develop business cases and supporting presentations for identified opportunities, that support the growth and maintenance of the business.
  • Market Research: Research, analyze, and synthesize data, trends, leading practices, and other business intelligence in support of business plans.
  • Forecasting and Planning: Assist in the development of business cases and strategic plans for new initiatives to optimize revenue opportunities.
  • Product Roadmap: Lead the consolidated forecasting and planning cycles on behalf of product owners and ensure the product roadmap is accurately represented.
  • Product Gap Analysis: Identify product gaps with respect to customer needs, competitive offerings, and trends.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present monthly financial summaries for cross-portfolio product team and Sr. Leadership.
  • Risk Management: Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Operational Efficiency: Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.

Requirements:

  • Education: 3-5 years experience with an undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, or Economics. Graduate degree or financial designation is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced skills in Power BI, SQL, MS Excel.
  • Financial Modeling: Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, including the ability to build and analyze complex financial models.
  • Data Visualization: Expertise in data visualization tools such as Power BI, to source large data sets and apply complex transformation to produce key business insights and support business decision making.
  • SQL: Expertise in SQL, including the ability to extract data from multiple sources such as data warehouses, data lakes, and relational databases.
  • Decision Making: Strong decision-making, forward thinking, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Results Orientation: Results-oriented and innovative in identifying and pursuing opportunities to leverage capabilities to increase revenues, decrease costs, and mitigate risks.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in Cash Management and Payments industry, or in-depth understanding of delivery networks of financial products and services within the context of the Bank's sales and service strategies across the various delivery channels is an asset.
  • Project Management: Experience working on large projects using industry-standard delivery methodologies (e.g., Agile/Scrum/Kanban) and tools (JIRA/Confluence) is an asset.
