Care Services Manager

This position is for our 242-bed Long-Term Care Home, located in Ottawa, Ontario. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Assistant Director of Care to join our team.
- Assists the Director of Care in implementing and evaluating nursing department quality improvement initiatives, risk management systems, data collection and analysis, report writing, and procedural updates.
- Takes the lead in coordinating and implementing best practice and risk management initiatives related to resident care, such as falls prevention, restraint use, wound management, and Infection Control.
- Effectively manages the utilization of nursing supplies to ensure efficient care delivery.
- Maintains a system of care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation at the resident and unit program level, maximizing staff resources and contributing to our interdisciplinary team approach to resident care.
- Maintains an active presence in the Resident Home Areas, mentoring staff while overseeing the provision of quality resident care.
- Works collaboratively with the Director of Care on special projects, reviews, and other duties as assigned.
- Assists the Director of Care with input to Performance Appraisals.
- Focuses on Resident Centered Care Needs as required by MOH LTC Home Legislation and Extendicare Policies.
- Actively participates in the palliative care program, goals of care, and advanced care planning.
- Successful candidate will be required to work one weekend/month.
- Minimum of three years experience in long-term care; previous management experience an asset.
- Current knowledge of clinical issues for geriatric residents, infection control, principles of adult education, and quality improvement.
