We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Data Classification and Labeling Specialist to join our Security Engineering and Operations team at WSP. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately classifying and labeling large datasets to support our machine learning and data analysis initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Refine data discovery, classification, and labeling requirements to support data governance and compliance initiatives.
  • Develop and implement data classification and labeling schema and lifecycle handling policies.
  • Identify gaps in current data management solutions and recommend additional tooling and resources.
  • Configure and implement data classification and labeling solutions to scan, map, and label WSP's data holdings.
  • Prioritize and onboard data sources for scanning and classification.
  • Develop policies and procedures to communicate, operationalize, and sustain data classification and labeling capabilities.
Leadership and People Responsibilities
  • Develop positive working relationships with team members and business partners to align with WSP's internal and external client demands.
  • Provide feedback on the governance process for continued improvement.
Finance/Budgetary Responsibilities
  • Provide feedback on tooling and identify additional needs to support data governance and compliance initiatives.
  • Plan for the expansion of security tools to cover ongoing needs.
  • Evaluate license usage and potential growth to ensure optimal resource allocation.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in data management or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, data sciences, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software, including Microsoft Purview.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with IT governance frameworks such as COBIT, ITIL, and ISO 27001.
  • Experience with governance, compliance, and audit within IT environments.
  • Experience with risk management, including risk analysis, mitigation, and monitoring.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, data sciences, or a related field.
  • Microsoft Data Analyst Associate certification or equivalent.
