Senior Cost Consultant Job Description

Our client, a leading global cost and project management firm, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Consultant to join their team. As a Senior Cost Consultant, you will play a critical role in providing cost estimating consulting services to clients in the residential real estate sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement cost estimating strategies to meet client needs
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates at various stages of the design process
  • Conduct needs analysis and develop innovative solutions to meet client requirements
  • Complete design efficiency analysis and full trade and elemental take-off
  • Produce benchmarking reports for construction and development costs
  • Conduct tender analysis and cost reconciliation exercises
  • Prepare front-end cost reports to support cost estimates
  • Undertake and complete periodic site inspections and estimating reports
  • Assist in preparation of change order review analysis and lifecycle cost estimates
  • Maintain ongoing client communication and resolve issues as required
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of related experience in cost estimating
  • Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline
  • Intermediate level of understanding of construction estimates
  • General understanding of residential/ICI/civil projects
  • Experience working at a consulting firm (billable environment) is an asset
  • Member of RICS or LEED accreditation is an asset
  • Understanding of the construction industry – development, contracting & consultant services
  • Excellent knowledge of Sharepoint, Excel, Word, and measurement software
  • Working knowledge of CostX, Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Project is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of CIQS standard method of measurement – elemental/trade, Provincial lien act and Standard contract conditions – CCDC
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Intermediate knowledge of trade roles, construction sequencing and building product knowledge
