Job Summary:

The Survey Assistant will provide support to our survey teams in the field, ensuring the successful completion of projects and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist survey teams in the field with various tasks, including data collection and equipment maintenance.
  • Track and maintain housekeeping of tools, equipment, and materials at project sites, office, and in crew vehicles.
  • Support a positive and professional team atmosphere and act as a positive ambassador for the company.
  • Assist Crew Chief in achieving project timelines and deliverables.
  • Complete mandatory safety training and practice competent operation of all equipment and tasks.
  • Adhere to, without exception, the safety requirements of the client, OH&S, and the GeoVerra Safety program.
Requirements:
  • Diploma/Degree in Geomatics or Civil Engineering Technology, or related discipline preferred, not required.
  • Previous experience in Surveying or other related types of work in the great outdoors.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly for the client, project, and GeoVerra requirements.
  • Commitment to respond to situations that occur outside traditional working hours.
  • Capacity to take directions and communicate effectively.
  • An understanding of survey methodologies is considered an asset.
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract and background check.
  • Completed training and valid tickets in First Aid and CSTS safety training is an asset.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace
