Overview

The City of Whitehorse is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment. As a Strategic Indigenous Partnerships Coordinator, you will play a vital role in developing and maintaining strong relationships with Yukon First Nations representatives and members.

About the Role

This full-time position involves working closely with various stakeholders to identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership initiatives. You will be responsible for organizing community engagement activities, including workshops, meetings, and forums, to promote open dialogue and relationship building.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements First Nations and partnerships strategies aligned with the City's reconciliation roadmap, setting goals, targets, and implementation plans.
  • Reviews and recommends updates to the City's corporate policies and procedures to mitigate inequities and integrate First Nations and partnerships considerations.
  • Provides training and education to employees on topics related to First Nations and partnerships to enhance their understanding and appreciation of different perspectives and experiences.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Indigenous Governance, Indigenous Studies, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • 7 years of relevant experience focused on the development and implementation of First Nations and partnerships initiatives within a unionized work environment and 6 months on-the-job experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining successful relationships with Indigenous partners and communities, preferably in the Yukon.
