Job Summary:

Thomas Cavanagh Construction Limited is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Professional to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-going coaching to operations personnel to drive adoption of safe behavior and adherence to health and safety requirements.
  • Assist sites with health and safety improvement plans, identifying areas for improvement and supporting execution of action plans.
  • Work with management teams to ensure implementation and ongoing improvement of health and safety systems.
  • Participate in effective communication and execution of health and safety programs.
  • Coach site personnel in understanding their health and safety responsibilities, particularly hazard recognition and control, risk assessment, and application of the hierarchy of controls.
  • Assist in developing safe work processes for industrial, aggregate, and construction projects.
  • Provide on-site support in conducting incident investigations and ensure timely reporting.
  • Assist with tracking and follow-up for health and safety audit action plans.
  • Support site management to ensure safe return to work for injured employees.

Accountabilities:

  • Flexible working hours as required by the position.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor industrial, mining, aggregate, and construction project settings.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple activities.
  • Mature attitude and ability to work independently.
  • Confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to relate to diverse backgrounds.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in an operational role, preferably in health and safety.
  • College or university education is considered an asset.
  • Strong ability to use office software programs.
  • Experience with Site Docs is an asset.
