Job Summary

As a Resident Care Specialist with the City of Ottawa, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being and optimal functioning of residents in a long-term care facility. Your responsibilities will include implementing care plans, ensuring resident safety, and promoting engagement in a supportive environment.

Education and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will require a Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate program that meets the standards established in the Fixing Long-Term Care Act. You will also need to have completed a clinical practicum with a minimum of 140 hours of practical experience in a geriatric or long-term care setting.

Knowledge and Competencies

  • Resident hygiene, optimal functioning, and well-being
  • Health Care Aide routines and practices in a long-term care setting
  • Infection prevention and control guidelines
  • Transfer and positioning techniques of residents
  • Rehabilitation and palliative care approaches
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation

What You Need to Know

  • Language Requirement: Various language requirements may apply, depending on the location.
  • Police Record Check: A Vulnerable Sector Check will be required for the successful candidate.
