Livestock Farmhand Job Description

Northern Rockies Farms Ltd. is seeking a reliable and physically capable Livestock Farmhand to join our team. As a key member of our farm operations, you will be responsible for maintaining the health and well-being of our livestock, ensuring the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, and contributing to the overall success of our farm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas
  • Clear fields of wood and stones
  • Diagnose livestock health issues
  • Disinfect pens, barns, or poultry houses
  • Handling animals
  • Marking livestock as proof of ownership
  • Monitoring animal health
  • Organize tasks to accomplish the work
  • Perform animal grooming activities
  • Perform livestock feeding
  • Shear the sheep
  • Treat livestock health issues
  • Feed and tend animals
  • Clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens
  • Detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock, and poultry
  • Perform general farm duties
  • Set and monitor water lines, air flow, and temperature in barns, pens, and chicken coops
