Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Physiotherapy Assistant to join our Long Term Care team at Purdy Pavilion at UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC. As a Physiotherapy Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a physiotherapist to provide rehabilitative activities and support to patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Function under the operational supervision of the Program Manager and practice supervision of the Physiotherapy Practice Coordinator to carry out established rehabilitative activities within the physiotherapy scope of practice.
  • Support the team with duties such as receiving assignments and implementing lower risk interventions related to the clinical aspects of OT/PT care plans, demonstrating and teaching activities, adapting devices to enable patients to maximize their potential for independence, providing functional direction to patients and family, and assisting with practicing daily living skills.
  • Report relevant observations of patient progress and behaviors.
  • Provide direction to volunteers and organize and clean equipment and supplies for activities, and maintain the established inventory of supplies.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
