Physiotherapy Assistant

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Physiotherapy Assistant to join our team at BC Children's and Women's Hospital & Health Centre in Vancouver, BC.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Therapists in the provision of patient care by setting up treatment equipment, preparing patients for treatment, and assisting patients with assigned rehabilitative activities.
- Perform a variety of clerical duties such as typing, reception, and maintenance of charts and files utilizing computerized software programs.
- Receive patients and escort them to the appropriate treatment area; assist Therapists in preparing patients for treatment by performing duties such as patient transfer, dressing and undressing.
- Assist patients with established rehabilitative activities such as mobility and strengthening exercises, respiratory care, gym and walking programs.
- Assist Therapists by fabricating a supply of splints for use by the therapists/nurses for adaptation to the specific patient.
- Assist Therapists in providing care by taking measurements required for fabrication of adaptive devices such as standard Ilizarov post-op knee extension and foot drop splints and fabricating according to samples.
Requirements
- Completion of a Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
- Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments.
