About the JobThis is a permanent full-time opportunity that involves working 40 hours per week. The ideal candidate will have a secondary (high) school graduation certificate and 3 years of experience in electrical systems maintenance or equivalent experience.
You will be responsible for testing and observing electrical and mechanical conditions of equipment, troubleshooting and repairing electric motors, transformers, switchgear, generators, and other electro-mechanical equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Test and observe electrical and mechanical conditions of equipment: Ensure that all electrical and mechanical systems are functioning properly and safely.
- Troubleshoot and repair electric motors, transformers, switchgear, generators, and other electro-mechanical equipment: Diagnose and fix problems with electrical systems, including motors, transformers, and generators.
- Use machining tools to fabricate or recondition parts: Utilize various machining tools to create or repair components as needed.
- Replace or recondition shafts, bearings, commutators, and other components: Replace or repair worn-out parts to maintain the efficiency of electrical systems.
- Weld or braze components: Join metal parts together using welding or brazing techniques.
- Instruct apprentices: Share knowledge and skills with junior technicians to help them develop their expertise.
- Wind, assemble, and install various types of coils: Construct and install coils for electrical systems.
- Perform static or dynamic balancing of armatures or rotors: Balance rotating parts to ensure smooth operation.
- Perform some machining to recondition or modify shafts, commutators, or other parts: Use machining tools to repair or adjust parts as needed.
- Test repaired motors, transformers, switchgear, or other electrical apparatus to ensure proper performance: Verify that repaired equipment functions correctly and efficiently.
This role requires physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that involve heavy lifting, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
