Clinical Research Nurse

Job Summary
The Research Nurse will play a key role in the coordination of clinical trials, providing nursing care, monitoring, and clinical assessment to patients participating in research studies. This position requires strong clinical research knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively with others.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the study interventions, nursing care, monitoring, and clinical assessment of patients participating in clinical trials.
- Provide nursing care that meets the individual needs of study patients, including performing duties such as physical assessment, administering medications and treatments, and providing teaching and counseling for patients and their families.
- Support department/program staff regarding studies and act as a resource to nurses when patients are enrolled in a study.
- Advises/teaches nursing staff in clinic and treatment areas on a variety of issues including specialized theory and practice related to study activities.
- Participate in the evaluation, planning, and implementation of study protocols by reviewing protocols and providing input on resource impact and patient care issues.
Requirements
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
- Two (2) years of recent related clinical nursing experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
- Certification in oncology nursing is required (or must obtain certification within one year of employment).
- Relevant clinical research knowledge, ability to lead and participate in quantitative and qualitative research projects, knowledge of research process and methodology, ability to deal with others effectively, interpersonal skills, ability to organize work and set priorities, ability to work independently, ability to operate related equipment, physical ability to perform the duties of the job, and skills in CPR techniques.
