Job Title: Registered Practical NurseJob Summary:

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health - CAMH is seeking a part-time, permanent Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to work on the Psychosis Recovery and Treatment Unit 8 (PRT 8). As a member of an inpatient inter-professional team, you will provide client-centered psychiatric and general nursing care to clients in different stages of their recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide client-centered psychiatric and general nursing care to clients in different stages of their recovery journey.
  • Respond to client care needs using a safe, respectful, and dignified approach.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the client care environment.
  • Collaborate with the care team to perform ongoing clinical assessments, utilize evidence-based interventions, and develop, implement, and evaluate the inter-professional plan of client care to address multiple health care priorities.
  • Utilize critical thinking, a problem-solving process, and customer service in your approach to care and service delivery.
  • Work with patients from diverse backgrounds, contribute to program development, and provide educational support and supervision to students.
Requirements:
  • Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current B.C.L.S. (CPR) at the HealthCare Provider Level.
  • Medication administration certification or completion of an RPN education preparation program that includes medication administration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enable you to develop the Nurse-Client therapeutic relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse inter-professional team.
  • Recent and strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing and addiction issues.
  • Ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the prevention and management of aggressive behaviour.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • College program completion.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language.

This position involves 12 hour shift rotation and weekend work at the Queen Street Site.
