Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our Oncology Psychology team at BC Children's Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will provide comprehensive psychological services to children and families affected by cancer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize the provision of psychological services for children and families affected by cancer.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychodiagnostic assessments and develop treatment plans to address the psychological needs of children and families.
  • Provide individual and group therapy, as well as behavioral management and play therapy, to children and families.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including medicine, nursing, social work, and other healthcare professionals, to provide comprehensive care to children and families.
  • Document assessments, treatment plans, and outcomes, and advise other members of the treatment team.
  • Supervise and provide evaluations for Psychology Residents and other trainees and students.
  • Participate in training pre- and postdoctoral fellows as appropriate.
  • Stay current with the scientific literature relevant to the area of practice and apply scientific evidence to clinical decision-making.

Requirements

  • Current registration by the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia, or eligibility for registration.
  • Training at the doctoral level in child clinical and/or developmental psychology, pediatric neuropsychology, or a closely related area.
  • Recent related experience in women's and/or children, adolescent, psychodiagnostic, clinical, and/or healthcare environment.
  • Ability to communicate and present ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to carry out duties in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to establish priorities, develop/implement short-term and long-term objectives.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to teach and provide instruction.
  • Proficiency in computer skills related to report writing and to recording and managing data.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
