Job Summary

As a Child Clinical Psychologist at the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to children and families in British Columbia.



Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for children and adolescents with various mental health conditions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide coordinated care and support to patients and families.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations to identify the underlying causes of children's behavioral and emotional challenges.
  • Design and deliver evidence-based interventions, including individual and group therapy sessions, to promote positive outcomes and improve quality of life.
  • Document patient progress and outcomes, and provide regular updates to families and healthcare teams.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote best practices in child clinical psychology.
  • Provide education and training to healthcare professionals, students, and families to enhance their understanding of child development, mental health, and effective treatment strategies.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with the latest research, best practices, and industry developments.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, and adhere to established protocols for confidentiality and data protection.


Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Clinical Child Psychology or a related field.
  • Registration with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia, or eligibility for registration.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in child clinical psychology, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including children, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a focus on evidence-based practice.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including electronic health records and data management systems.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
