Our Expectations
Under the guidance of the Divisional Vice-President, Real Estate and Construction, the Senior Construction Project Manager will lead a team responsible for managing construction project portfolios and overseeing various projects using optimal project management techniques and tools. This individual must maintain quality standards, adhere to project budgets, and timelines while participating in executive project approval meetings and preparing analyses and reports as required by Senior Management.
Your Role
- You will oversee construction projects within the organization, leading the team towards achieving corporate goals and objectives.
- You will support the Real Estate team and other internal partners by contributing to the development of technical solutions and negotiating with multiple business stakeholders.
- You will be responsible for cost estimation, budget preparation, and execution.
- You will implement processes and procedures to ensure best practices in project management.
- You will select external consultants, manage mandates, and maintain relationships with these consultants.
- You will review and approve project calls for tender and analyze bid packages.
- You will approve the awarding of all mandates and construction contracts.
- You will create project timelines and schedules for execution.
- You will manage project progress, document construction work, and ensure compliance with contractual documents, quality standards, and project schedules.
- You will control construction costs to stay within the budgetary envelope limits.
- You will review, analyze, and approve/disapprove contract payment requests.
- You will negotiate contractual agreements with consultants and contractors, including changes in work scope.
- You will resolve potential conflicts with consultants and contractors.
- You will produce project status reports as required by management, documenting project progress and process.
- You will maintain a good working relationship with other departments to achieve company objectives for quality of service to internal clients.
- You must be willing to travel extensively throughout Canada when required.
- You must have the ability to present information efficiently and effectively.
- You must be able to work at a high level of autonomy and have flexibility to react quickly in a dynamic business environment, as well as problem-solving capacity.
The Qualifications We Are Looking For
- You should have 5 to 10 years of experience in commercial construction project management, ideally in the retail sector.
- You hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture, a DEC (technical college diploma) in these disciplines, or extensive experience in the construction industry at the project management and supervision level.
- You hold professional certification or are an active member of a recognized professional association such as the OAQ, OIQ, OTPQ, PMI, CIQS, AEÉCQ, etc.
- You have mastery of project management techniques and tools.
- You can prepare construction cost estimates.
- You have proficiency with various software packages, including Microsoft Office, MS Project, and knowledge of AutoCAD would be an asset.
- You have excellent organizational skills and can work independently.
- You can multitask and prioritize daily project needs.
- RONA Inc. has a Hybrid Workplace Policy requiring associates to have reliable transportation to and from our corporate head office located in Boucherville, Quebec.
- We require all head office associates to be proficient in French, spoken and written.
