Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Animal Training Program Manager to join our team at the West Edmonton Mall. As a key member of our animal department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective training programs for our marine mammals, specifically sea lions.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong background in animal behavior modification and operant conditioning, with a focus on husbandry, socialization, and interactive programs.
  • At least 10-15 years of paid work experience in a related field, with a proven track record of success in animal training and management.
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant biological field, or equivalent experience in animal care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, guests, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software programs, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Responsibilities

The Animal Training Program Manager will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing training programs for our marine mammals, including sea lions.
  • Coordinating and directing the daily activities of our animal training team.
  • Mentoring and training junior staff members in animal behavior modification and operant conditioning techniques.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of animal enrichment programs.
  • Ensuring the health and well-being of our animals through regular monitoring and reporting.
  • Liaising with other departments, such as education and guest services, to ensure seamless operations.
What We Offer

In return for your expertise and dedication, we offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
