Job Overview

The University of British Columbia is seeking an Information Security Compliance Expert to join its team in Vancouver. This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to make a meaningful contribution to the University's Privacy & Information Security Management (PrISM) program.

Responsibilities

This role will be instrumental in ensuring the effective implementation of information security compliance across the University. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading Compliance Framework Attestation

Provide expert advice and guidance to units on information security compliance, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies.

Solutions Design and Implementation

Design and propose solutions for complex or campus-wide compliance issues, ensuring alignment with UBC's Information Security Policy and standards.

Strategic Planning and Collaboration

Contribute to strategic planning efforts to improve information security and privacy practices across the University, working closely with IT teams, data stewards, and other stakeholders.

Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Education and Experience

An undergraduate degree in a relevant field, along with a minimum of five years of experience in information security or a related field.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

Expert knowledge of information security frameworks, models, and standards, such as OWASP, SAMM, NIST, COBIT, and ISO 27001/2.

Soft Skills and Abilities

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional development.
