Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Risk and Compliance to lead our Insurance Services team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the operational, risk management, and compliance supervision functions for our Scotia Wealth Insurance Services division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Lead and manage a team of professionals to deliver high-quality results and achieve business objectives.
    • Develop and implement effective leadership strategies to foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Risk Management and Compliance
    • Oversee the development and implementation of risk management and compliance strategies to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks, and ensure effective compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Operational Oversight
    • Provide strategic guidance and oversight to ensure the effective operation of our Insurance Services division.
    • Develop and implement processes and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services.
  • Business Development and Partnerships
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify business opportunities and develop strategies to drive growth and revenue.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Proven track record of success in risk management, compliance, and operations leadership roles.
    • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
    • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Knowledge of insurance industry regulations and best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. business, finance, risk management).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in risk management, compliance, and operations leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance industry regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
