Unit Clerk, Radiation Therapy Specialist

We are seeking a highly organized and compassionate Unit Clerk to join our Radiation Therapy team at BC Cancer. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our unit, providing exceptional patient care, and supporting our clinical staff.
Key Responsibilities- Transcribe and process clinician orders, utilizing our electronic health record system to schedule tests and services.
- Organize diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, coordinating appointments and communicating with patients and staff.
- Gather patient information to facilitate efficient patient flow, and prepare documents for clinical teams.
- Perform receptionist duties, including greeting patients, answering phone calls, and responding to inquiries.
- Participate in onboarding and orientation of staff, and support student clinical practicums as required.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff by adhering to safety policies and standards.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide exceptional patient care.
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively, and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to keyboard 40 wpm, and operate related equipment.
- Ability to utilize a variety of computer software applications.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, and other related reports.
