Unit Clerk, Radiation Therapy Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Clerk to join our Radiation Therapy team at BC Cancer. As a Unit Clerk, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our unit, providing exceptional patient care, and supporting our clinical team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transcribe and process clinician orders, completing and forwarding requisitions for tests or services, and communicating with patients and staff as needed.
- Organize diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients, coordinating appointments and preparing related instructions.
- Gather patient information for medical appointments, requesting and receiving information, and preparing documents for the clinical team.
- Perform receptionist duties, greeting patients, answering phone calls, and responding to inquiries.
- Participate in the onboarding and orientation of staff, demonstrating work procedures and answering related queries.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff, adhering to safety policies and standards.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide exceptional patient care.
Requirements:
- Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year's recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to keyboard 40 wpm.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to utilize a variety of computer software applications.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
