About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Head to join our team at Philly Foods Inc. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our retail establishment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Direct and control daily operations to ensure efficient and effective management of the department.
    • Evaluate daily operations to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
    • Plan and organize daily operations to meet business objectives.
    • Manage staff and assign duties to ensure optimal performance.
  • Market Research and Analysis
    • Study market research and trends to determine consumer demand and potential sales volumes.
    • Analyze the effect of competitors' operations on sales and implement strategies to stay competitive.
  • Marketing and Sales
    • Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase sales and revenue.
    • Implement price and credits policies to optimize sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Staffing and Development
    • Determine staffing requirements to meet business needs.
    • Recruit, hire, and supervise staff and/or volunteers to ensure optimal performance.
    • Conduct performance reviews to evaluate staff performance and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Supervision and Support
    • Supervise office and volunteer staff to ensure effective management of the department.
    • Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for youth and Indigenous workers.
    • Provide cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment.
Requirements
  • 1-2 years of experience in a retail or wholesale establishment.
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Fast-paced environment and attention to detail.
  • Combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
