We are looking for a highly skilled professional with 2+ years of experience in software development, design, and architecture. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining complete technology solutions for projects supporting physical and cloud-based platforms and applications with network integration needs across multiple environments.

Main Responsibilities

  • Implementation and Maintenance: Design, develop, and implement complete technology solutions for projects supporting physical and cloud-based platforms and applications with network integration needs across multiple environments.
  • Business/Technical Requirements: Define business/technical requirements, development specifications, system performance objectives, and identify system modifications.
  • System Transition: Work with system architects to transition solutions to steady state by documenting support processes, roadmaps, capacity planning, and maintenance schedules.
  • Technology Expertise: Maintain and encourage knowledge of industry-standard technologies, including software programming preferably with Java and Python, object-oriented programming concepts, API scripting, Linux, Windows, VM environment, Google and Azure Cloud concepts, Jenkins pipelines, GIT Tools, Kubernetes, and Docker.
  • Application Infrastructure and Architectures: Test and manage application infrastructure and architectures; familiarize yourself with security concepts, protocols, and best practices.
  • Risk Management: Understand how Scotiabank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Operational Excellence: Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of your respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Professional Experience: 2+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Design and Architecture Experience: 2+ years of design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
  • Programming Language: Experienced programmer with at least one software programming language; preferably Java and Python.
  • Software Development Life Cycle: Demonstrate strong knowledge of the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
  • Education: Nice to have a degree in computer science or related field.
