Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Referral Specialist to join our team at Watson Clinic.

About the Job

This role is responsible for ensuring that patients have access to specialist healthcare services by coordinating referrals and communicating with insurance carriers, physician offices, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Access information through the billing system and 3-day out report to identify potential referral issues.
  • Coordinate pre-certification processes between physician offices and insurance carriers.
  • Add referral information into computer systems as received from insurance carriers.
  • Maintain effective communication with physician offices and support staff to ensure efficient referral handling.
  • Document inquiry actions and maintain resourcefulness in resolving patient and health plan issues.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and 4 years of related experience may be equivalent.
  • One to two years of referral experience preferred or basic working knowledge of referrals.
  • Knowledge of insurance plan referral requirements and referral processes.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to retain detailed information and perform daily duties.
  • Basic typing skills (35wpm) and knowledge of IDX scheduling.
  • Advanced telephone skills as a primary instrument of communication.
