Space Mission Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at Macdonald, Dettwiler And Associates Corporation. As a member of our Engineering team, you will be working on exciting projects such as the CHORUS Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Satellite, Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC), and Square Kilometer Array (SKA) radio telescope.
About the Role:You will be responsible for providing technical leadership to a multi-disciplined mission team and suite of suppliers. This includes identifying, managing, and mitigating risks across the program, managing and driving changes to cost, schedule, and technical baselines, and collaborating with teams across MDA as well as subcontractor teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing technical expertise to ensure project delivery on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards;
- Leading cross-functional teams to deliver complex engineering projects;
- Maintaining accurate records and reporting on project progress and issues;
- Collaborating with stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks;
- Supporting technical and management reviews at Segment, System, and Subsystem levels.
To be successful in this role, you will need a degree or advanced degree in engineering or computer science, or a combination of related education and experience. You should have at least 12 years of experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and complexity in a complex engineering environment.
Requirements:
- Experience in managing sub-contractors and suppliers;
- Experience as a team leader for software development, systems engineering, or similar teams;
- Experience in troubleshooting, fault isolation, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills;
- Understanding of different types of engineering lifecycle applicable to large complex programs and software development;
- Ability to travel globally for spacecraft commissioning.
Compensation: We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on your level of experience and qualifications. Additionally, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
