Job Title: Counsellor

The University of British Columbia is seeking a skilled Counsellor to join our team. As a Counsellor, you will provide specialized counselling support for students who have been sexually assaulted, as well as a range of other counselling services for UBC students. You will also consult with UBC faculty and staff, and educate the campus community on the nature and impact of sexual violence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group counselling to students, with a focus on survivors of sexual assault.
  • Conduct assessments and provide referrals to Counselling Services and other University and community resources.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, such as the RCMP and Sexual Assault Support Centre, to coordinate support for students.
  • Develop and deliver programs to increase students' awareness of sexual violence and promote healthy relationships.
  • Collaborate with student groups, faculties, and departments to enhance student learning and wellbeing.
  • Administer and interpret personality and career instruments.
  • Participate in case management and administrative meetings.
  • Develop policies and procedures to promote student wellbeing and effective counselling service delivery.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Counselling Psychology or a related field.
  • Certification as a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors.
  • Eligibility for professional certification in British Columbia.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in Clinical Counselling, including supervising Master's level practicum students.
  • University or college counselling experience preferred.
