Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of food products, including soups, sauces, meats, fish, poultry, and desserts, following established menus and recipes.
- Portion and serve food items to patients, residents, and clients, ensuring high-quality presentation and service.
- Operate kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, and dishwashers, to prepare and serve food.
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and service.
About the Team
Heiltsuk Hospital is a 14-bed hospital located in Bella Bella, BC, serving a diverse population. Our team is committed to providing high-quality patient care and exceptional service. As a Cook, you will be an integral part of our team, working closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Requirements
- Graduation from a recognized 12-month program in cooking or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Successful completion of Food Safe I.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, residents, and clients, as well as other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects, as well as stand for long periods.
