About You:
  • You hold a M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemistry or Geochemistry and at least 5 years of R&D experience in ICP-OES or ICP-MS instrumentation, or a B.Sc. with a minimum of 10 years of progressive R&D experience in ICP-OES or ICP-MS instrumentation.
  • You have 5 years of progressive R&D experience.
  • You possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • You demonstrate common sense, innovation, and proactivity.
  • You are proficient in MS Word and Excel.
  • You have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • You excel in organization and attention to detail.
  • You have R&D project management experience.
  • You can work with minimal supervision and supervise others.
  • You have a meticulous work ethic, with excellent time-management and organizational skills.
  • You can manage competing demands of short- and long-term projects.
  • You produce high-quality work while meeting deadlines.
  • You are highly motivated and adaptable.
  • Sometimes, you need to travel domestically.
Responsibilities:
  • You perform research and development to improve quality, turnaround time, and costs of Actlabs' methods and processes.
  • You research and develop new scientific processes, author SOPs for those processes, execute method validation; and author validation reports.
  • You formulate research strategy on R&D projects and oversee technicians in the execution of experiments.
  • You improve current scientific processes and update SOPs and validation.
  • You provide technical training and guidance to technicians and managers with related competence testing.
  • You interface between QA and Operations: Oversee root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action of data analysts and process owners.
  • You provide technical support to Actlabs' network of laboratories (domestic and international).
  • You evaluate the adequacy of current and new equipment.
  • You analyze data and generate final reports for non-routine projects to be issued to clients.
  • You prepare and follow quality control procedures to meet SCC accreditation requirements under ISO/IEC 17025 and SCC RGs.
  • You maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • You have experience working with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • You attend domestic and international conferences and trade shows.
  • You undertake other tasks suitable for an R&D Scientist.

Compensation Package:

The salary range is estimated to be $85,000-$115,000 based on national averages for similar positions. We also offer comprehensive benefits, including vacation, dental care, extended health care, life insurance, on-site parking, vision care, and flexible scheduling.

Work Environment:

Full-time position with an 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday, in person.
