The RoleWe are seeking a General Manager, Labour to oversee the growth of our 450+ labour workforce. Reporting to our Senior Vice President, this role will work with field and operational leaders to develop a 3-year strategy to optimize our labour value chain, from evaluating efficiency to growing our workforce and creating new partnerships.
Key Responsibilities- Manage financial performance by setting and achieving revenue targets, controlling costs, and optimizing profitability
- Build relationships with field staff, superintendents, and site leaders to drive efficiency and cost controls
- Foster collaboration and open communication across divisions and sites to ensure alignment and consistency
- Lead a culture of safety amongst hourly workers, working with the Director of Safety on education and training
- Evaluate and maintain labour subcontractors, staffing agencies, and service agreements for efficiency
- Analyze market conditions, competitor activities, and industry advancements
- Establish an organized recruitment strategy for hourly workers, leveraging the HR team
- Stay up-to-date with hourly wage trends and market compensation
- 10+ years of construction experience, with a focus on operational or site-based positions
- Advanced communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences
- Strong interest in business and financials
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage complex information
- Familiarity with high-volume recruiting and human resources is an asset
- Competitive pay, with a base salary range of $150,000 to $175,000, plus a performance-based bonus program
