About the Job

McAsphalt is seeking a General Labourer to join our team at our Langley Facility. As a General Labourer, you will be responsible for performing various tasks related to the operation of our asphalt plant, including equipment maintenance, monitoring, and assisting with general support tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance on pumps, motors, mixers, and other equipment
  • Conduct routine monitoring of security checks, bulk liquid terminal, and associated equipment
  • Assist team members with general support tasks
  • Perform general clean-up of site, plant, and work areas
  • Assist welders, millwrights, power engineers, and other operators on-site
  • Handle and transport materials and equipment
  • Use power tools and mobile power equipment when needed
  • Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions
  • Seasonal requirements: snow removal in winter and assisting with other tasks in summer
  • Take product samples and deliver to laboratory on-site
  • Lift up to 60lbs and recognize where lifting mechanisms need to be implemented
  • Learn rail car safety and securement as regulated requirements
  • Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks
  • Enforce general safety practices, policy, and standards on-site
  • Carry out general maintenance and cleaning tasks to ensure a safe and tidy work site
  • Assist in setting up and taking down materials and equipment at job sites
  • Complete all CCOHS training as outlined by company and safety requirements

Requirements

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License and clear abstract
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Knowledge in an industrial setting and awareness of process hazards
  • Ability to work under a comprehensive safety program
  • Computer skills would be an asset
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in an industrial setting
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job
  • Organized, self-driven, and able to understand and execute oral and written instructions
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus
  • Communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safety rules, policies, and practice
  • Can-do attitude
