About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Operations Manager to lead our team of Industrial Engineers in driving operational excellence across our automated warehouse network. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Industrial Engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to foster their professional growth and development.
- Establish clear objectives and performance metrics for the team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Oversee the development and enhancement of physical operational flows and automation strategies across multiple sites, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in sorting and loading processes.
- Collaborate with facility and operations teams throughout the justification, design, implementation, testing, and go-live phases of new, expanded, and relocated stations.
- Drive the establishment and refinement of operating standards for core activities, promoting a culture of continuous improvement across the engineering team.
- Analyze throughput, operational costs, and quality metrics, providing strategic recommendations to enhance performance and operational effectiveness.
- Serve as a primary interface with operations and procurement teams in the analysis, justification, and selection of diverse material handling equipment.
- Collaborate with automation providers and industry partners to explore innovative solutions that align with short, medium, and long-term operational needs.
- Actively participate in the RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes related to automation and material handling equipment, providing technical insights and recommendations.
- Regularly visit delivery stations and sortation hubs to gain firsthand understanding of operations and support the implementation of key initiatives.
- Act as a consultant for operations management teams, offering expertise and strategic guidance on engineering-related matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; a graduate degree in engineering, project management, or operations management is a plus.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering or operational excellence roles, with a minimum of 2 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
- Experience in an automated warehouse or HUB environment is preferred.
- Proficient in AutoCAD; familiarity with simulation software is a plus.
- Advanced skills in Excel, with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Willingness to travel to various stations across Canada.
- Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Bilingual in French and English, with a strong command of both languages for effective pan-Canadian communication.
