Health Care Assistant Instructor

We are seeking a qualified individual to instruct in the Health Care Assistant Certificate program at North Island College.
This instructional assignment involves teaching the lab course HCA 120: Personal Care and Assistance via a face-to-face delivery method to a Health Care Assistant cohort at the Port Alberni campus.
The successful candidate will implement creative strategies in the preparation and delivery of lab activities; use initiative in providing documentation and follow-up with regard to student concerns and problem resolution; and, bring facilitation skills to management of conflict.
The schedule for this assignment will be flexible to meet the needs of the program.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and prepare learning materials for instructional environments;
- Use a variety of approaches and materials to address different learning needs;
- Teach in assigned subject areas and include all required subject matter or skill activity;
- Direct student learning in a positive, supportive, and caring environment;
- Be available to students regularly during scheduled office hours and classroom hours;
- Clearly communicate learning outcomes and evaluation methods;
- Design and conduct evaluations or appraisals of students;
- Maintain records of student enrollment and achievement.
- Practical Nursing credential or BSN degree;
- Two years' experience teaching adults, preferably at the postsecondary level;
- Work experience in gerontics;
- Extensive experience working with Older Adults;
- Provincial Instructor diploma preferred;
- Experience with Indigenous pedagogies and culture;
- Current registration with BCCNM (inclusive of Criminal Record);
- CPR Level HCP required.
- Experience using creative and motivating approaches to stimulate learning;
- Ability to demonstrate effective team behaviours and contribute to shared team goals;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills;
- Experience with online learning management systems.
