About the Role

The Dexterra Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced School Lead to join our team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for managing a team of associates to prepare and serve a healthy and flavorful menu selection in a school cafeteria setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement creative menu items that meet the nutritional and culinary standards of the school
  • Lead the culinary team to execute daily and weekly work plans, ensuring high-quality food preparation and presentation
  • Monitor sales volume and adjust production volume and menu plan to maximize sales and reduce waste
  • Assess tasks and processes to improve efficiency and output while maintaining safety and consistency
  • Inspect equipment and communicate maintenance needs to ensure safe and efficient operation
  • Address employee concerns and work with the team to create a safe, healthy, and productive working environment
  • Collaborate with the kitchen staff and Operations Manager to control costs and optimize menu planning
  • Represent the Dexterra Group as an ambassador of goodwill, ethics, and great client relations

Requirements

  • Culinary experience and excellence, with a minimum of five years of experience leading high-volume culinary teams
  • ServeSafe and/or FoodSafe certification
  • Red Seal Chef status or equivalent
  • Valid G driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively handle employee, customer, and client concerns
  • Ability to use computer software, including POS equipment
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in hot or cold temperatures
