We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at Balsam Care, a community of care and support for adults with varying abilities. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in delivering specialized nursing care and support to our residents, ensuring they receive the best possible care in a compassionate and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide skilled nursing procedures as needed within the LPN scope of practice
- Prepare charts for physicians' visits and process urgent medication orders
- Administer and assess the effects of prescribed medications and treatments
- Document participant information and maintain integrity of records
- Assist with admission and discharge of clients, and participate in interpersonal and therapeutic activities
- Inventory maintenance and ordering of nursing supplies, and monitor refrigeration of medications
- Perform daily/weekly/monthly/yearly or PRN phlebotomy as ordered, and review clinical matters with other healthcare practitioners
- Currently licensed by the College of Practical Nurses in Nova Scotia
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs, and hold a current certificate in Standard First Aid/CPR-C
- Willingness to complete core competencies determined by the Department of Community Services, and previous work experience with individuals with diverse abilities considered an asset
- Total remuneration includes medical, dental, vision, travel, and life insurance, as well as a pension plan with 50% employer matching
- LPN yearly license compensation, paid on-the-job training and education, and free parking
- EAP program, inclement weather accommodations, and 2 weeks paid vacation with additional hours earned every 2 years
- 13 paid holidays, sick time accrual, and a supportive work environment
