The Halifax Regional Municipality is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Youth Operations Worker. This temporary, full-time position will be responsible for supervising a team of youth participants, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment, and providing coaching and guidance to support their development.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate the activities of youth participants, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational plans.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and support to youth participants, helping them to develop job and life skills.
- Issue uniforms and personal protective equipment to youth participants and ensure they are properly fitted and maintained.
- Monitor and record participant progress, using tools such as ESAT to track job skill development and workplace behavior.
- Act as a first responder in addressing customer concerns and resolving conflicts.
- Develop and execute daily work plans, inspecting equipment and reporting any deficiencies or potential safety hazards.
- Manage cash and perform daily balancing of floats, as assigned.
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to queries and addressing customer concerns.
- Grade 12 or equivalent, with progressively responsible experience in a customer-driven organization.
- Two years' leadership experience working with youth in a recreation, sport, or volunteer setting.
- Valid Nova Scotia Driver's License with a driving abstract that meets the requirements of the position.
- Two years' driving experience within the municipality, considered an asset.
- Post-secondary education, considered an asset.
- Participation in the Aspiring or Emerging Leaders program, considered an asset.
The successful candidate will be required to work a 35-hour week, Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed. Normal work hours are based on a 35-hour week, with flexibility to address operational demands.

The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience, ranging from $56,210 to $72,740 per year. The Halifax Regional Municipality offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a pension plan.
