Job Summary

The City of Thunder Bay is seeking a skilled Industrial Millwright to join our team at the Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP). As an Industrial Millwright, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of equipment, buildings, and grounds at the WPCP and sewage lift stations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, including pumps, motors, and controls.
  • Monitor and report equipment wear, abnormalities, and breakdowns.
  • Repair or replace equipment or parts as needed.
  • Perform general building and grounds repairs.
  • Obtain necessary parts, supplies, and tools from inventory.
  • Participate in confined space entries using self-contained breathing apparatus as required.

Requirements

  • Journeyman Certification as a millwright.
  • Proven practical experience in the operation and maintenance of industrial pumps, motors up to 800 HP, and controls.
  • Proficiency in welding, soldering, pipefitting, and tool maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering, construction, and mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
