The Role

This position supports the delivery of Athletics & Recreation events, activities, and Game Day operations at Douglas College. The incumbent will work closely with the Manager, Athletics & Recreation Operations, to ensure the success of these events, enhancing student engagement and the overall student experience.

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate the delivery of Athletics & Recreation related events, activities, and Game Day operations.
  • Develop processes to ensure the proficient execution of events, activities, and Game Day Operations.
  • Establish and maintain operational relationships with internal and external stakeholders to adhere to College SOPs, procedures, and protocols.
  • Deliver Game Day operations in accordance with governing sport bodies.
  • Liaise with Athletics staff to organize promotional activities.
  • Provide direction to Game Day staff to ensure exceptional customer service and a professional work environment.
  • Lead the ongoing development of students.
  • Liaise with campus Security on documentation and incident reporting.
  • Generate and communicate statistical reports, ensuring a safe environment and facility for participants, spectators, and staff.
  • Monitor and report on event attendance, ticket sales, and gate and concession revenue.
  • Generate weekly financial reporting and perform cash handling in adherence to College SOPs.
  • Contribute to a team environment by working collaboratively and respectfully with all stakeholders.
  • Maintain and file documentation and records according to specified requirements.
  • Communicate with coaches and faculty regarding student communication, media, and branding requirements.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education is an asset.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on/off campus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and inspire students aged 17-25.
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheet development, and social media applications.
  • Ability to attend meetings as requested.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, organize, and lead Athletics-specific activities.
  • Access to a vehicle and a Class 5 BC Driver's License for the transportation of game day/event equipment.
