Job Title: Senior Technical Lead for Polymeric Materials

At Kinectrics Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Lead for Polymeric Materials to join our team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and project management leadership to senior technical staff in managing and executing project deliverables in the areas of polymeric materials and polymeric composites.
  • Support the forensic examination of various polymeric components, including electrical cables and associated non-metallic accessories.
  • Support the aging/life cycle analysis assessment of various polymeric components, including electrical cables and associated non-metallic accessories.
  • Work independently and lead technical teams to perform engineering consulting services related to the areas above.
  • Maintain expertise in materials science characterization and testing techniques to solve technical problems.
  • Create Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), procedures, and Pre-Job briefings for potential health, safety, and environmental hazards associated with project work.
  • Manage medium to large-sized projects from bid to project completion, monitoring project health/margins by reporting percent complete and other project metrics.
  • Ensure staff and customers are provided with timely and accurate project information and status updates.
  • Develop and maintain laboratory procedures and outline areas of improvement.
  • Assist in developing proposals for internal/external customers and communicating and coordinating contracts with outside contractors/suppliers when required.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years of post-graduate studies and/or industry experience.
  • Experience leading teams of staff, including coordination of laboratory activities and R&D.
  • Experience managing large, complex projects with material orders and subcontractors to aggressive timelines.
  • Experience working with radioactive materials and understanding of radiation safety.
  • Knowledge of materials characterization and failure analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of the long-term effects of environmental stressors on the chemical structure of polymeric materials and compounds.
  • Experience working with electrical cables or other transmission and distribution-related applications of polymeric materials.
  • Practical experience of polymeric materials laboratory characterization using spectroscopic methods, electrical methods, mechanical methods, thermal methods, and X-Ray-based analytical tools.
  • Experience with laboratory accelerated thermal aging methodology and formal root cause analysis tools.
  • Detailed knowledge of polymer processing techniques, prior field inspection and/or laboratory assessment & testing experience, and Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) status.
  • Eligibility to obtain a PEO license and excellent problem-solving skills and initiative in finding solutions to technical problems.
