Psychiatrist - Women's Trauma & Concurrent Program (12-month Locum - Parental Leave)

Position Summary
A full-time opportunity for a Psychiatrist in our inpatient program starting in July 2024. The Women's Trauma & Concurrent program is a groundbreaking initiative offering intensive treatment tailored specifically for women with complex trauma. This new program integrates care for co-occurring substance use disorders, providing a comprehensive approach to treatment. This position is within our elective Homewood Specialized Services, delivering evidence-based treatments and superior treatment outcomes. The program is delivered on-site at the Homewood Health Centre in Guelph, in a collaborative manner, with a supportive interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinically responsible for assigned patients, including admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, monitoring, referral, daily care, and discharge.
- Provide ongoing supervision and management of care, including weekly individual assessments with the patient to ensure ongoing standards of patient care are met.
- Collaborate with other physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals in providing optimal patient care within an interdisciplinary team.
- Complete documentation, including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impression, treatment plan, weekly progress notes, and a comprehensive discharge summary.
Requirements:
- A specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent body acceptable to the Royal College and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
- Experience with diagnosis and management of complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid mental health and substance use disorders is preferred.
- Interest in working with complex and comorbid disorders, as well as ongoing learning and teaching to continually enhance patient care.
