Job Title: Addictions Counsellor Diploma

Salary: $29.584 to $36.176 per year

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Addictions Counsellor to join our team at Health Careers in Sask. As an Addictions Counsellor, you will play a vital role in restoring lives and enhancing recovery for individuals struggling with addiction and mental health issues.

About the Role:

As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work under the general direction of the program area manager to develop, implement, deliver, and evaluate Mental Health and Addictions Services programs. Your primary goal will be to restore, maintain, and enhance the recovery of people seeking help for addiction and/or addiction-related issues by implementing various modalities of addiction recovery and personal development programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide information programming and participate in drug strategy initiatives
  • Offer individual and group counseling services
  • Implement and document harm reduction programs

Requirements:

  • 6 months of clinical experience in the specific department/area/program
  • Mental Health & Addictions Counselling Diploma
  • Intermediate - Written Communication Skills
  • Intermediate - Organizational skills
  • Basic - Crisis management skills
  • Advanced - Interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate - Communication skills

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge in best practices in addictions and harm reduction strategies
  • Ability to develop appropriate recovery plans
  • Knowledge in addictions-specific twelve core functions
  • Knowledge in Motivational Assessment Process
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge in community resources and services in the clinical area
  • Ability to administer chemical dependency screening and assessment tools
  • Knowledge in individual assessment and counselling skills
  • Knowledge in development model of recovery (SMRS)
