Job Title: Assistant Buyer - Merchandise Procurement Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Assistant Buyer to join our team at Ikou Inc. as a Merchandise Procurement Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing merchandise for resale, negotiating prices and discounts with suppliers, and maintaining adequate stock levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Study market reports, trade periodicals, and sales promotion materials to stay up-to-date on industry trends and competitor activity.
  • Arrange product according to planogram to ensure optimal display and sales.
  • Establish and maintain contact with suppliers to negotiate prices, discounts, and credit terms.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels to meet customer demand.
  • Negotiate prices, discounts, credit terms, and transportation arrangements with suppliers.
  • Review requirements of the establishment and determine quantity and type of merchandise to purchase.
  • Select and purchase merchandise for resale.
  • Visit trade shows, showrooms, factories, and product design events to stay informed about new products and trends.

Requirements:

  • College/CEGEP diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in buying or a related field.
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
