Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Carpenter/Labourer to join our team at Lake Country Co-operative. As a Carpenter/Labourer, you will be responsible for assisting skilled trades persons in performing construction activities at residential, commercial, and agricultural construction sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist skilled trades persons in performing construction activities, including loading and unloading materials, moving materials to work areas, and assisting with erecting and dismantling forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, and barricades.
- Operate and maintain various power tools, including mixers, compressors, and pumps.
- Remove rubble and other debris at job sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, and other equipment.
- Follow company policies and procedures related to safety and asset protection.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of job site safety rules and regulations (Occupational Health & Safety).
- Eye for quality control/assurance and safety from start to finish.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and knowledge of building codes and regulations.
- Physical fitness, willingness to learn, and drive to excel in the position.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Willingness to obtain required safety tickets, including first aid, Fall protection, Aerial lift, and Telehandler certification.
- Carpentry certificate or any level of carpentry technical/apprenticeship process or provincial Journeyperson status is an asset.
- Well-organized and able to work independently and with supervision.
- Honesty and trustworthiness, results-oriented, attentive to detail, and strive to be the best in what you do.
- Ability to lift, load, carry, and hold products – extensive physical labor typical of residential and commercial construction site is required.
- Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in carpentry.
- Flexible work schedule, including weekends.
- Availability for intermittent day travel and intermittent overnight travel.
